Lacrosse is not only a sport, but also a spiritual endeavor for the Haudenosaunee/Iroquois, who are stewards of what they describe as the Creator's Game.  We are honored to have Andrew Lee (Seneca) share his knowledge about the roots of lacrosse, highlight some Native values and principles we can learn from, and provide practical guidance for how players, coaches, and others can get the most from their lacrosse experience.

Andrew Lee has held a variety of executive positions in the fields of health care, American Indian affairs, and philanthropy.  He serves on boards for the Smithsonian Institution, Harvard University, US Lacrosse, the Tewaaraton Foundation, among others.  A lifelong lacrosse player and current youth coach, Andrew is a graduate of Hamilton College and the Harvard Kennedy School.

Shootout for Soldiers 2019

Posted On: July 23, 2019

2019 LONG ISLAND SHOOTOUT FOR SOLDIERS WAS ANOTHER TREMENDOUSLY SUCCESSFUL EVENT!

Hello Friends of Long Island Lacrosse and the Shootout for Soldiers,

To all of our sponsors and participants… Once again, a huge THANK YOU!! Over the 6 years of the event here on Long Island we have raised over $840,000 for our Veterans and troops. The 2019 tournament raised over $175,000.  We had over 100 teams attend and play in the event and over 10,000 attendees!

All proceeds from the event are going to our Veterans and our troops. The organizations being helped are “The Army Ranger Lead The Way Fund,” “Semper Fi Fund.” “TEAM RWB,” & the “Gary Sinise Foundation.” In addition, we will also be raising funds for two local charities, the “Lt. Joseph J. Theinert Memorial Fund,” which is based out of Mattituck right here on Long Island, and the Long Island Air Force Association.

Thank you for all your support and we look forward to making next year's event an even bigger success thanks to all of you!
